Thailand has officially opened for foreign travelers post-Covid-19. It is a good time to pack your bag and start your journey of mastering Muay Thai. We can give you some ideas for things for what you should prepare for and what to expect while training in Thailand.
Finding a Muay Thai gym will depend on your Muay Thai level and what type of experience you would like to have. We can group Muay Thai gyms into 2 major groups, the local gym and the medium-large size gym. The experience can be different for some but both groups are generally good for all levels of experience. You can find local gyms scattered throughout the country, offering a traditional learning and hands-on method. They are typically taught by experienced trainers or former Muay Thai fighters.
On the other hand, the medium-large size gym offers more modern facilities, accomodations, cafe, gym room and the combination of tradition and modern sport science approach on Muay Thai training.
In terms of English language skills, the medium-large Muay Thai gyms have the upper hand. However, with the recent influx of foreigners in Muay Thai gyms, the local trainers have adapted and their level of english communication has increased.
Lastly, most medium-large size gyms are located in popular travel destinations which means there is more to do. If you plan to enjoy yourself outside of the gym or have the option to travel, you can try a medium-large size gym.
