Now that you know what to look for in a Muay Thai gym, let's explore the best gyms in Phuket where you can unleash your potential!

1. South-East (Mueang Phuket district/Chalong)

Our most popular gyms are located in the south of the island in the capital district of Mueang Phuket. The following two gyms are located in the business center of Chalong, which stretches along the east coast of the island. Some of Phuket's biggest attractions are located there, as well as good connection points to the beautiful surrounding islands. Here you also find the famous Fitness Street, a paradise for anyone interested in sporty activity. So, if you're heading to Phuket for some Muay Thai training, Chalong's a great place to kick-off some exciting activities.

1.1. Tiger Muay Thai

You can give it your all during a fitness training session at Tiger Muay Thai Phuket. It is either possible with traditional workouts such as on the floor or on weight machines…

History & Trainers

At Tiger Muay Thai, over 30 instructors are eager to take you on a great fitness journey. Our world-class Muay Thai trainers (or "Kru" in Thai) have years of training and fighting experience. All have won major Thai titles such as the Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadium Championships. As many have also worked intercontinentally, you are in perfect hands with them as a foreigner.

The head coach, Kru Phet, has been with Tiger Muay Thai Camp since it opened in 2003. He has a degree in English and economics. The fight manager Kru Kay arranges fights for the gym members in the big stadiums.

The beginner, intermediate and advanced Muay Thai programs each have their own head coach who oversees the training. They are Kru Danai, Kru Saksurin and Kru Robert “Terminator”. Each coach is also available for private lessons.

Program & classes

The Tiger Muay Thai Gym offers you a comprehensive training program for various martial arts and fitness options. In addition to Muay Thai, this includes Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Kickboxing (K1) and Traditional Western Boxing. As our customers have come to expect from our first-rate Muay Thai gyms, your level of experience does not play a role here either. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced fighter, you can pursue your goals. In this regard, the Tiger Gym offers three different course programs.

…or in a sparring match with your gym partner. This way you train reflexes, offense and defense techniques.

As a newcomer in martial arts, you can start with the beginner program. Our trainers will introduce you to the basics of Muay Thai, such as stance, footwork, attack and defense techniques. By working with pads, sandbags, sparring and cardio exercises, you can also gain the necessary fitness. The intermediate program has a slightly higher intensity and also includes complex techniques and combinations. If you already have a good amount of experience in Muay Thai, you can participate in the advanced program. The training of fighting fitness and ring skills is the perfect preparation for professional fighting.

There are also units dedicated to ancient Thai martial arts. Muay Boran is considered the predecessor of Muay Thai and specializes in additional techniques, such as utilizing all kinds of striking attacks as well as joint locks, throws and even ground grappling. Historical Fun Fact: The most famous Muay Boran fighter was Nai Khanom Tom. In 1774 he fought the 10 best Burmese fighters one after the other, knocking them all out. Nowadays he is considered to be the father of Muay Thai.

The fighting style Krabi Krabong is a weapons-based martial art. It uses everyday objects as melee weapons for easily applicable self-defense.

If your main goals are to burn calories, improve fitness or build muscle, you can join the BodyFit and CrossTraining classes. Here you will use body-weight exercises and fitness equipment. The twice-weekly outdoor program is particularly fun. During the Phuket Big Buddha Run, you will get to know one of Phuket's main attractions. From the plateau of the third largest statue in Thailand, you have a breathtaking view of the towns and beaches during the joint run. If you are then drawn to the beach, take part in the beach boot camp. Your fitness training will reach a whole new level at one of the spectacular Thai coastal resorts, such as Nai Harn Beach.

As you can see, the Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Camp offers a wide range of training options. For more information and the workout schedule, visit the gym on our booking platform (Link below)

Attractions & activities in Chalong

Two of Phuket's most popular tourist attractions are within easy reach of both the Tiger Muay Thai gym and Phuket Fight Club. The Big Buddha statue is the island's landmark. It is 45 meters high, made of concrete and decorated with beautiful white marble. Situated on a mountain, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view. There are also several cafés and souvenir stores that invite you to linger. Wat Chalong is the largest temple complex in Phuket. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century and is home to Buddha paintings, golden statues and relaxing gardens.

Rassada Pier and Chalong Pier are the main piers in Phuket. From there you can take ferries and private boat tours to some of Thailand's most popular islands such as the Phi Phi Islands and James Bond Island. If you're interested in fishing, you'll love the surrounding fishing ponds and the Pa Lai Pier.

The elephant is the national animal of Thailand and is considered sacred in Buddhism. If you are interested in observing and learning more about the peaceful creatures, there are many elephant sanctuaries. One of the ethical destinations we recommend is the Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve in the south of Phuket. Located in a peaceful forest, it is home to just a handful of elephants rescued from the tourism industry.

Activities & attractions in Kathu

The most popular beach in this area is the 3 km long Patong Beach. There are numerous hotels, restaurants and shops in the area. During the day, you can relax on the beach, rent a lounge chair, get a massage, or try water sports like parasailing. In the evening it gets lively and there are lots of people browsing the bars and clubs. It is best combined with a walk along Bangla Walking Street. This is the main nightlife street in Patong. After sunset it becomes a pedestrian street full of bright neon lights and music. Along the street you will find bars, clubs and live music venues. It's a place where you can party, watch live bands or just walk around and enjoy the typical Phuket atmosphere.

Another good place to relax in the evening without getting your feet wet is Kalim Beach. Street food stalls on the side of the road offer affordable meals. Two secluded beaches in quiet locations in Patong are Freedom Beach and Tri Trang Beach. Here you'll find rustic open-air restaurants and great snorkeling off the white-sand coast.

In the evenings you can go shopping in Malin Plaza. It is a vibrant night market for clothing, home goods, souvenirs and street food. The Banzaan Fresh Market is also popular. The market hall with outdoor area offers a wide range of items from clothing to fruit as well as a food court. A more conventional option is the Big C Extra Phuket 2 shopping center.
